A Sip of Summer — A Note from Pat McBride

I’m delighted to share that a selection of my recent work will be included in “A Sip of Summer,” an art social at Cassy Tully Fine Art in downtown Aberdeen. The gallery’s summer show opens with a reception on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 6–8 PM at 110 N. Poplar Street — a lovely evening to wander through the gallery, meet fellow art lovers, and enjoy light conversation and refreshments.

Cassy’s gallery has a warm, small-town charm that makes it a perfect setting for the kinds of paintings I love to make — quiet scenes, gentle light, and everyday moments that invite a slow look. I’m honored to have pieces in this exhibition; seeing our work together there will make for a wonderful neighborhood celebration of summer and art.

Cassy Tully is a prominent American fine artist and philanthropist best known for her relief-style paintings of iconic golf courses and major championships. Originally from Wisconsin, she runs Cassy Tully Fine Art in the historic district of Aberdeen, North Carolina, near Pinehurst Resort. Her signature technique blends contemporary acrylic methods with Italian relief-sculpting approaches—mixing gel mediums with sand or glass beads to create raised, tactile surfaces that play with light and shadow. She even incorporates authentic bunker sand from specific courses into the paint of those portraits. Tully has served as official artist for major events (including the 43rd Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits), collaborated with organizations like the PGA of America and USGA, and has commissioned works in permanent collections nationwide. Philanthropy is central to her practice; she frequently partners with nonprofits (PGA REACH, Evans Scholars, Make‑A‑Wish, Veteran Golfers Association) to raise funds through art auctions.

If you can join us, please stop by to say hello — I always enjoy meeting people who connect with the work and hearing what stories the paintings stir. For those who can’t make the reception, the show will be a lovely way to experience Cassy’s thoughtfully curated gallery during the season.

See you there! ~Pat
